Reading Assignment
Day 26: Systems of Influence
Chapter Content
Systems are the scaffolding of influence. They turn intention into action and behavior into habit.
- A good system amplifies your influence and ensures consistency.
- A bad system creates friction and drains energy.
Systems are not neutral.
- Every system reflects the beliefs and values of its creator.
- A system of influence is a moral statement encoded into mechanics.
Your systems will outlive you.
- The question is whether they will honor you.
Exercises
-
Personal Systems Audit:
- List your habits, routines, and workflows.
- For each, ask:
- Does this system serve my long-term goals?
- Does it reflect my values?
- Eliminate or refine any system that wastes energy or creates friction.
-
Build a Resilient System:
- Choose one area of your life (e.g., communication, productivity, relationships).
- Design a system that anticipates challenges and sustains momentum.
- Include checkpoints for reflection and adjustment.
-
Legacy Design:
- Write down how you want your systems to function when you are no longer directly involved.
- Create a plan for how you will encode your values into the system.
